Definition

  • Cervical pregnancy is the implantation of the gestational sac in the endocervical canal below the internal os and a rare form of non-tubal ectopic pregnancy.

Occurrence & epidemiology

Epidemiology

  • It accounts for less than 1% of all ectopic pregnancies; its incidence is reported as 1 in 1,000 to 1 in 18,000 pregnancies.

Clinical features

Clinical features and complications

  • The main danger is massive vaginal haemorrhage.
  • Presentation ranges from asymptomatic findings to acute courses and may be early or delayed.

Diagnosis

  • Ultrasound criteria are a gestational sac below the internal os with blood flow on Doppler and an absent sliding sign.
